Stir-fry is a dish that is unbelievably easy to customize. You can add whatever vegetables you like most, and avoid the ones you don't care for. Stir-frying is a food preparation technique that originated in China. The cooking method is simple and is done by frying ingredients in a minimal amount of extremely hot oil. Over time, this cooking technique spread across Asia, and eventually into the west.

The tradition of using a wok is used in a variety of Chinese cooking techniques. The stirring utensil that is used, a long-handled utensil is known as a hoak, or in English, a label. The original stir-fry concept has changed dramatically over time, and it was changed even more through geographical location. Different cultures use meats and vegetables that fit into their tradition. The Americanized version focuses primarily on beef, chicken, and shellfish.
