Kansas City Steaks Ungraded Ribeye 10 oz. for $20 ea. When a company trys to hide the quality of their steak there is usually a good reason. The packaging was okay though.
We do not see a significant amount of marbling.
Ribeye being grilled. No one's mouth was watering.
In our opinion, just not a good steak that would compete closer to supermarket steaks than premium steak websites.
We were so unimpressed with the Ribeyes, we went back and purchased a whole 3.5 Rib Roast for $80, we would slice ourselves.
The thin crovac packaging leaked during defrost, something you have to watch out for with this company.
The marbling looked about the same to us. We sliced our Prime Rib Roast (which is not USDA Prime) into three steaks. Had we made four steaks they would have been the same price as the Ribeyes we purchased, but a 14 oz. steak instead of 10 oz.
We grilled them and let them rest to medium
Decent pink color. The bark (crust) was amazing.
We could say that these Ribeyes cut from the Prime Rib Roast (not USDA Prime) tasted slightly better but not so much more for us to recommend them.
Ungraded Super-trimmed Filet Mignon 8 oz. ea. $27.50 ea. This may be the best steak we've had from KC Steaks, and the packaging didn't leak.
Marbling is consistent with other Filet Mignon vendors.
8 ounces is a little small for a meal, and at $27.50 each, it would be hard to put two on a plate.
Overall, we thought the quality and taste was on par with other Filet Mignon vendors, but KC Steaks is charging a USDA Prime price for something ungraded. It gets a thumbs down for value.
Ungraded Kansas City Strip Steak 12 oz. $24 ea. Again, USDA Prime price for something not prime, but the packaging didn't leak.
For your comparison, a Kansas City Strip is also a NY Strip. Marbling is a little better than the Ribeyes, especially on one of the steaks.
Steak grilled and rested nicely.
At $24 for a 12 oz steak, we just didn't think the value was there to buy this again.
